CD reviews: Black Eyed Peas and Jazmine Sullivan

Black Eyed Peas has dominated the pop radio and dealing with their dominance it is like planning for earthquakes in Los Angeles.Well, there is no use in protesting about either anymore. Each is a geologic fact, and you might as well accept the inevitability.

The Big One, which is the Peas latest release that will topple freeways is "The Time (Dirty Bit)," a typically house-jacking club track that so flagrantly bites the chorus of "(I've Had) The Time of My Life" from "Dirty Dancing" that it has a kind of post-authorial genius.

But complaining about such is like lamenting the rise of global capitalism. The better challenge is to find the pearls of techno-caveman beauty in the coke-nose vocal tweaks of "XOXOXO" or the Daft Punk aspirations of "The Best One Yet (The Boy)." They have a song called "Love You Long Time," for goodness sake. That's all the Black Eyed Peas want to do, and they will not be ignored.

Black Eyed Peas New Album Coming Soon

Black Eyed Peas release new album The Beginning later this month and now will.i.am has revealed the influence behind the record.

Discussing the follow-up to last year’s The E.N.D., the rapper and producer said the new album is inspired by the 1980s.

"The 80s was unique. It launched humanity into hyper mode. From then to now we’ve transcended to a totally different culture," will told the Daily Star. "Now we have high definition, 3D animation, whereas the beginning was Tetris and Space Invaders. That’s what we’re doing - we’re connecting the pixels."

Will.i.am also revealed how he had to improvise making some parts of the album, because it was recorded on the road during the band’s world tour. "We had no speakers so I had to hijack the hotel television set and plug my computer into it. Some songs are 120 beats per minute and others are, like, 320."

The Beginning is released November 26.

Black Eyed Peas Get Sued For Stolen Song "I Gotta Feeling"

Texan song writer Bryan Pringle has made the allegation that his song 'Take A Dive' has been recomposed by the BEP and their record label Interscope. The originality of Black Eyed Peas hit single ‘I Gotta Feeling’ is being questioned in yet another lawsuit against the chart toppers

Pringle claim that he sent the version in nineties to the band but they never responded and now he thinks that they are taking profit from his hardwork

A previous case against the 4-piece was resubmitted on the same day as this new one and is being looked after by the same law firm

A lawyer representing the singer suing over another BEP hit ’Boom Boom Pow’, has said on MTV.co.uk: “A simple listening of the two songs will tell you that the songs are substantially similar, and that the hooks of the two songs are virtually identical in rhythm and lyrics”

According to MTV Uk claim hat Interscope with the Black Eyes Peas have shown “a pattern and practice of intentional copyright infringement of unknown or lesser-known artists”.

Black Eyed Peas : Will.I.Am defends 'blackface' performance at MTV VMAs

If there hasn't already been enough outrage over the 2010 MTV VMAs, the internet is now firing not just at Lady Gaga's steak-and-kidney frock but at Will.I.Am's face paint. The Black Eyed Peas frontman has hit back at criticism of his "blackface" at the awards show. "Let go of the past," he wrote. "There are far more important things to bark about."

Will.I.Am appeared in the pre-show for Sunday night's gala, performing Check It Out with Nicki Minaj. While his partner donned purple lycra and a hot pink hairdo, Will.I.Am went for black leather, dark sunglasses and pancake makeup. It was a look more Max Headroom than Al Jolson, but never underestimate the internet's capacity for righteous indignation. Before long, Will.I.Am was being accused of poor taste, minstrelsy and even "setting black people back".

The rapper seemed scarcely able to believe it. "Are you guys serious?" he wrote on Twitter. "My outfit set 'black people back 100 yrs'?" Telling fans to "choose your twits wisely", he insisted that "no education sets people back, [or] no jobs, [or] bad health". "Just because I wear all-black clothing including head mask ... it shouldn't be looked at as racial," he wrote. "There are far more important things to bark about (jobs, health, education) [than] a black man wearing all black everything."

Amusingly, the artwork for the song Check It Out shows Will.I.Am in the same costume, but has the opposite problem – a complete lack of colour. But the Black Eyed Peas frontman's best response seems to be his coincidental new song for Sesame Street, What I Am. "I'm going to keep my head up high," he sings in the video, which debuted this week. "Nothing's going to bring me down." Perhaps he should dress up like Big Bird.

Black Eyed Peas pour it hot in Ottawa

OTTAWA — It didn’t take long for the party to get started at the Black Eyed Peas concert Sunday night at Scotiabank Place.

In fact, it was instantaneous, as each member of the California super group rose up through the stage floor to the pulsating beat of Let’s Get It Started, a sure-fire party favourite. Bathed in a green laser-like halo, they certainly kicked off the concert in grand style to the delight of the crowd of 15,200 who danced in the aisles, fists pumping through the air.

“Wassup, Ottawa?” came the cry from the stage, and the audience responded, giving back lots of love and admiration to the group which is surely one of the most entertaining concert attractions today. Pure energy, high-voltage music with catchy hooks and a sense of dramatic posturing makes the group fun to watch and listen to.

The quartet is in the midst of a world tour titled The E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies) that began last year and they show no sign of fatigue. And whether they are performing solos or together on stage as a unit they excel as performers and singers.

Stacy Ann Ferguson — better known as Fergie — is the centrepiece of the group, and she showed her vocal talent on Meet Me Halfway, her soaring voice piercing the rafters of Scotiabank Place, or getting funky on Don’t Phunk With My Heart. She even strutted down the catwalk that jutted out into the audience, showing that she can strut with attitude with the best of models.

Black Eyed Peas perform Halifax Rocks

On stage from the moment they stepped with their massive party anthem Let’s Get It Started, until they left with I Gotta Feeling, the Black Eyed Peas had about 25,000 fans on the Halifax Common in an absolute frenzy. The Grammy Award six time winning artists and No. 1 hit makers came as advertised on Saturday night as headliners for Halifax Rocks 2010. The group featuring will.i.am, Fergie, apl.de.ap and Taboo delivered their bass pumping hits that shook the foundation of the city greenspace. The stage show featured back up dancers dressed in robotic like costumes, a laser light show and large screens offering various cool visuals.“We don’t know when we’ll be back here, so let’s party,” will.i.am told the crowd. The jacked up audience happily obliged, boppin’ to the beat of every hit song. Prior to taking the stage, the Black Eyed Peas looked on as Weezer performed a lively 50 minute set. The peas on stage Several members of Weezer joined when it was time for them to close the show. During I Gotta Feeling, Fergie gave the mic to Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo who belted out lines from the chorus.

E.N.D. Tour Has Staying Power To Black Eyed Peas

Sitting in an Athens hotel room on a humid summer day in early July, Will.i.am recalls the days when he and his fellow members of the Black Eyed Peas made a collective $150 per show and were ecstatic about it.
"We would jump up and down because we got paid, even though it meant we had to split it with each other and the band, meaning about $20 a piece," he says. "Then we got paid $2,000 for a show. And then I remember the first time we got paid a million bucks for an hour. I was like, 'Wow!' That was only four years ago."
Today, Will.i.am, Fergie, Apl.de.ap and Taboo have much more to be excited about. In a tough touring climate, the Peas continue doing sellout business. While other marquee acts are canceling shows and suffering from poor ticket sales this summer, the Black Eyed Peas are in the midst of their most ambitious concert outing yet, the E.N.D. world tour, promoting the album of the same name.
Through the end of June, the E.N.D. tour has grossed $47.7 million and drawn 740,000 fans to 54 shows, including 53 sellouts, according to Billboard Boxscore. North American summer shows will further boost those numbers, assuring that the E.N.D. run will rank as one of the most successful tours of this year.
CONTAGIOUS 'FEELING'The "E.N.D." album, released in June 2009 on Interscope Records, has sold 2.6 million copies domestically, according to Nielsen SoundScan, and 4 million outside the United States, according to Tom Land, international marketing director at Universal Music Group International. It has yielded a run of Billboard Hot 100 hits including "Boom Boom Pow" and "I Gotta Feeling," which commanded the top of the Hot 100 for half of the 2009 chart year.
Although the Peas have a wealth of hit singles internationally, "I Gotta Feeling" emerged as their signature tune for this campaign, according to Land. The track broke a U.K. record last month by becoming the first download to sell 1 million copies, according to the Official Charts Co. It peaked at No. 1 in Austria, Denmark, Ireland, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. It also went top five in Germany, the Netherlands and Japan.

Leaving Black Eyed Peas Rumors and Fergie Laughs Off Pregnancy

When it comes to rumors about baby bumps and career changes, Fergie still has her sense of humor.
“Obviously I’ve left (The Black Eyed Peas.) I’m gone.” Fergie joked with Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson at the 2010 BET Awards on Sunday..
The singer also addressed reports that she and husband Josh Duhamel are expecting.
“I’m already pregnant,” she continued. “The baby is on its way tonight.”
Fergie’s band mate, will.i.am, urged their fans not to believe everything they read on Twitter.
“We can’t believe all the (Tweets.),” he told Shaun. “You don’t know if it was a twit that wrote that!”
Fergie, 35, said Josh was even fooled by the false reports.
“I was actually organizing a room with my mom, trying on old clothes, trying to purge and cleanse and Josh came in. He’s like, ‘I just got these Google alerts. It says you’re leaving the Peas and we’re having a baby,’” Fergie recalled.
Despite the online rumors of the pair’s split, Peas member Taboo, said, “Next week, we leave to Europe to do our festivals.”

The Black Eyed Peas hit single I Gotta Feeling is on course to become the first ever million-selling download in Britain.

Official Charts Company figures show less than 1% of all Top 40 singles in chart history go on to break the million selling mark.

Children and work don’t mix, Black-eyed peas singer Fergie says

The lead singer Black Eyed Peas has admitted that when she decides to start a family, she’ll be bowing out of the musical arena. Speaking to OK! Magazine, Fergie said she would feel “too guilty” to continue her career as a mum.
“In my schedule there's no room to have a child. Even if I wanted to get pregnant, there’s no way I could perform on stage and be pregnant, I would feel too guilty,” the 35 year old said.
Fergie, who married Josh Duhamel last year, has hinted that she wants to try for a baby later this year when her tour finishes.
The star explained, “It’s kind of interesting now with the media, the way it’s getting to look all these women have careers…but also have babies. Once I have children, the kids come first”.

Cheryl Cole talks at the World Music Awards about how she "can't wait" to see Will.I.Am

Where there’s a Will, there’s a way to get to Cheryl Cole.
Black Eyed Peas star Will.i.am, 35, chartered a helicopter from the World Music Awards in Monte Carlo to nearby Cannes – just so he’d be in time to catch her solo set.
He was determined to be there for Cheryl’s 1am performance at the Eden Roc resort on Tuesday– and he took us along for the ride.
Sidling up to us at 10pm, Will grinned: “Hey girls, Cheryl is singing tonight. I’ve got to get to her so I’m going to meet her halfway and go to her gig. Will you come? I’ve got to support my girl.
“That’s my chick, right there.”
Oh, is she really?
Naturally, we were only too happy to help out. And it meant we didn’t miss a minute of Cheryl’s stomping show at the De Grisogono party at the Hotel Du Cap either.

Peasy does it for Cheryl

SEEING CHERYL COLE decked out like this almost every night, it's no surprise that both WILL.I.AM and FERGIE are so smitten.
The Black Eyed Peas pair probably sat drooling by the stage as Chezza belted out her set before their main show.

Both performers have recently declared their love for the X Factor judge, who is supporting the Peas on their The E.N.D World Tour.
Last night they were in Berlin and Cheryl and her wardrobe team did not disappoint.
The Geordie singer's gold sequined costume was revealed in all its glory once she'd disbanded her baggy camouflage trousers.
That particular move must have won more than a few salutes.

The evolution of The Black Eyed Peas

Taboo, one of the four members in American hip-hop band The Black Eyed Peas, admits he wasn't sure what to think when frontman will.i.am. first approached the others in the group about making an album that drew on the electronic-edged dance music happening in underground clubs.

"Will, he's such a futuristic genius," Taboo (Jaime Luis Gomez) said in a recent phone interview. "When he brought that to the camp, he was like 'Yo, Tab, App (apl.de.app, whose real name is Allan Pineda Lindo) and Ferg (Fergie, whose real name is Stacy Ann Ferguson), this is the direction of the album. I believe in this. I know that this sound could be big. Just believe in it, understand it, research it, study it and become it.' So me and Fergie, we were ... hesitant at first, because we didn't know what to expect. But once Will and App brought us to the studio to see what it was like, and they took us to the clubs and we got really inspired by the pulse of the youth, they won us over."

Taboo said will.i.am. (William James Adams) got the idea of bringing a futuristic/electronic element to the current CD, The E.N.D., after he had started visiting the Los Angeles dance club scene, where artists were mixing electronics with dance sounds. On a 2008 trip to Australia, while will.i.am was filming a role in the movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine, he found that the sound had spread down under.

Taboo noted it wasn't a stretch to incorporate an electro-dance edge to The Black Eyed Peas' music; it reminded the group of early '90s hip hop and jungle music, two key original influences on the group's music.

"It was more about the hardness of the beats, and how they used synthesizers, and it inspired us to kind of add The Black Eyed Peas flavour to it," said Taboo.

And The Black Eyed Peas weren't shy about making the electronics a primary ingredient on The E.N.D." (which stands for The Energy Never Dies), infiltrating everything from beats to instrumental tones to treated vocals, putting a whole new sheen on the group's sound.

What hasn't changed on The E.N.D. is the lighter lyrical direction that began to emerge strongly on The Black Eyed Peas' previous CD, Monkey Business. Just as that album was marked by humorous - some might even say frivolous - tracks like My Humps and Let's Get It Started, the latest CD is defined by such just-for-fun tracks as Boom Boom Pow.

Some critics have accused The Black Eyed Peas with dumbing down its music to broaden the appeal of the group. And there's certainly a notable contrast between early albums, such as Bridging The Gap and Behind The Front - which gave the group a reputation for being of the more literate and socially aware groups in hip hop - and the recent music.

Taboo, though, begs to differ with that viewpoint. To him, the lighter side of The Peas simply reflects what has always been a key personality trait of the group.

"The thing about Black Eyed Peas is we're very humorous," Taboo said. "All we do is laugh all day. When we're doing interviews, we laugh. We don't take anything too seriously. Life is too short to be serious. We like to have fun with it. That's why this album is a club record. We like to go to clubs. We like to dance. We like to have a good time. We're best friends that get to travel the world and create a movement. That's what's special about Black Eyed Peas."

Considering the stature of The Black Eyed Peas in the music world today, it's hard to criticize the group if it has lightened up. The foursome has clearly struck a chord unlike any other act on the hip-hop/dance-pop scene.

But for the first part of its career, The Black Eyed Peas weren't making much noise on the charts, despite receiving considerable critical acclaim for their early albums. But then the departure of background vocalist Kim Hill in 2000 created an opening that was filled by Fergie, who immediately assumed a prominent role in the vocal mix on the 2003 CD, Elephunk. That CD included a funky R&B track, Where Is The Love - with guest vocals from Justin Timberlake - that gave the group its first major hit, reaching number 8 on Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart.

Since then, The Black Eyed Peas have been on a roll. Worldwide sales now stand at more than 26 million, making the group the bestselling hip-hop act in music today. The first two singles from The E.N.D. - Boom Boom Pow and I Gotta Feeling - set a record by topping Billboard magazine's top 40 singles chart for a combined 26 consecutive weeks, the longest stretch that any act had kept a grip on the number 1 single slot. Now a third single, Imma Be, is sitting in the top 10 on several Billboard charts.

Sales of The E.N.D. have topped nine million copies worldwide, and the group recently took home two Grammy Awards in January - for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals (for I Gotta Feeling) and Best Pop Vocal Album (for The E.N.D.).

Now the group is riding its wave of success into the live arena, coming to Canada as part of a major North American tour.

And Taboo says he and his bandmates are stepping up their game to match their mushrooming popularity: The group is bringing out a custom-built stage with elevators and trap doors, a whole new lighting system and video screens - a big change from previous tours that relied on the group's own performance skills and a live band to make an impact with audiences.

"Actually, Fergie was the one (who wanted) to do something big for this next album," Taboo said. "If we're going to be on this futuristic 3008 vibe, we need to step up our performance.

"For us, it's something we've never had before," he added. "There's a little bit of choreography in a couple of songs with the dancers we have; it's a little bit more of a spectacle. Four people on stage jumping around, it was great energy and we won people over for many years. But we felt the fans, the Peabodies, deserved a better performance and a better presentation with this tour."

Canadian tour dates: Vancouver April 11, Toronto July 27 & 28, Montreal July 31, Ottawa Aug. 1, Winnipeg Aug. 18, Saskatoon Aug. 20, Calgary Aug. 22, Edmonton Aug. 23.

Cheryl Cole to perform at World Cup with Black Eyed Peas

While England defender Ashley Cole is struggling to be fit in time for this summer's World Cup in South Africa, his wife, Cheryl, is guaranteed an appearance.

"The World Cup situation is a nightmare for Ashley. There's a real chance his wife might make a bigger impact than him," The Daily Star quoted a Chelsea source, as saying.
"Even if he's fit to play in South Africa he'll have to watch her with this new bloke she's raving about."

"Let's just say I don't think Ashley will be buying a ticket for the official World Cup concert," the source added. (ANI)

Single of the Week: The Black Eyed

ROCK THAT BODY - Black Eyed Peas

THE whispers a year ago as the Black Eyed Peas were about to release their latest album was that the band were about to call it quits. Naming their album The E.N.D. didn't help quash the rumours, although the world's No 1 hip-hop group said it was called The E.N.D. in to end all speculation! Glad that cleared things up then.

Hopefully the rumours are long gone then, as the Peas are having their most successful period in their 15-year career. This single hopes to follow the run of No 1s at the top of the UK charts (likewise in America, where they seem to have permanent residency). Yes, the vocal decoder is heavily used, almost like Will.I.Am paid a lot for the privilege and wants to get his money's worth. But there's no denying, it's a club stomper that would be more at home on a Calvin Harris album. The Black Eyed Peas are a band willing to take risks, try new things, and genuinely care about the sound they make – all good in my book.

Black Eyed Peas show delivers big hits and lots of boom boom pow

Before singer Stacy Ferguson joined the Will.i.am-led group, which hits the Palace of Auburn Hills on Tuesday on a bill that includes Atlanta rapper Ludacris, the Peas were a politically conscious alt-rap band with little commercial success.
Then in 2003, Fergie came on board, lending her ample pipes to the international hit "Where Is the Love?," which also featured Justin Timberlake, and the Peas instantly became a chart-topping pop group.

"I was a huge fan of theirs before ever working with them," says Fergie, 34 and married to actor Josh Duhamel. "I always loved that they were a live band with a hip-hop flavor."
She's talking on the phone from the Jacksonville, Fla., stop on the Peas' tour for last year's mega-selling "The E.N.D." (which stands for "energy never dies").

Just as Wild Orchid, the girl group she spent 11 years with without much success, was about to break up in 2003, Fergie met Will.i.am at a radio show in Los Angeles.

"I approached him backstage in the hall, as you do when you're trying to get your hustle on," says the singer, a showbiz lifer of Irish, Scottish, and Mexican heritage who got her start as a child actor on the show "Kids Incorporated" and voicing characters on Charlie Brown TV cartoons.

When the Peas were recording the 2003 album "Elephunk," Will.i.am (born William Adams) called Fergie in to sing on "Shut Up" and "the rest is history," she says.
For Fergie, that history has included the unsubtle sexual innuendo in hits such as "My Humps" (on the Peas' 2005 album "Monkey Business") and "London Bridge" (from her 2006 solo album "The Dutchess"). She's also made her Hollywood move, with a meaty role in "Planet Terror" (the 2007 Robert Rodriguez zombie-flick half of the Quentin Tarantino collaboration "Grindhouse") and "Nine," last year's Rob Marshall-directed, Fellini-inspired musical. Next she'll be voicing Jessica the collie in an animated feature adaptation of the "Marmaduke" comic strip.
"The E.N.D." is easily the best BEP album of the Fergie era and spawned the two biggest-selling digital songs of 2009 in "Boom Boom Pow" and "I Gotta Feeling." Ten months after the album's release, the hit singles haven't stopped: "Imma Be" is the No. 1 single on the latest Billboard Hot 100 chart. Fergie says, "We were very inspired by the electro scene. We wanted to make a dance album. It was exciting, but also a risk. We weren't trying to re-create the past flavor of the other records."

"The E.N.D." tour will be a suitably oversize pop extravaganza. "It's so big," she says. "It just feels so monstrous, the stage and all the costume changes and everything."
Expect to see the "Fergalicious" vocalist in a half-dozen outfits over the course of the two-hour show. "They're kind of difficult to get in and out of," she says. "It's very frenetic and kind of hilarious. A costume change is no joke."

Black Eyed Peas - Energy boosters

To call your album The E.N.D. can give a certain impression. But, far from it being the end for the Los Angeles-based Black Eyed Peas, the world's best-selling hip-hop group are celebrating their chart-troubling career on tour. "The E.N.D.", it turns out, stands for "The Energy Never Dies".
Here they are this week, fresh from three Grammy Award wins, performing in New York before their The E.N.D. world tour reaches the UK in May.
The R'n'B and hip-hop quartet have to this date sold 26 million albums worldwide since their inception in the early Nineties – and also made history with "Rock That Body" when they broke the Billboard record for the number of weeks spent at the top of the Hot 100 Singles chart. Here, they have had three No 1 singles, with "Boom Boom Pow", "I Gotta Feeling" and "Meet Me Halfway", and they have been a presence in the UK's Top 20 chart since The E.N.D., their fifth album, was released 10 months ago (it has sold more than 1.3 million copies over here).
Unusually for a band of their size and status, they are known for partying with their audience; after nearly every show on their tour, they hold aftershow parties where they DJ, dance and sing with their fans. The energy of The E.N.D. was inspired by the underground world of electro- and rock-infused house music – the band-leader will.i.am was fascinated with underground dance clubs back home in Los Angeles.
But it's not all play for the Black Eyed Peas. The group are said to take a studio with them on the road so that they can remix tracks and write songs wherever they are.

Black Eyed Peas manager escapes Perez Hilton assault charge

Black Eyed Peas' Polo Molina has seen an assault charge filed by celebrity blogger Perez Hilton against him dropped.Molina was accused of punching Hilton, real name Mario Lavandeira, outside a Toronto nightclub after the MuchMusic Video Awards in June after the blogger allegedly made a homophobic slur about band member Will.I.Am.
But an assault charge against Molina was dropped yesterday (November 18) after he issued a written apology to the celebrity blogger.Molina also agreed not to contact Hilton except through his lawyer, not to carry a weapon for 12 months, not to come within 100 metres of Cobra NightClub, where the alleged incident took place, and to donate $500 (£300) to Toronto's Red Door Family Shelter, reports the Canadian Press Association.
His lawyer read the written apology outside court, saying: "I apologise for what I did on June 22 of 2009. Even though you [Hilton] engaged in highly offensive comments, including a homophobic slur to my clients, I acknowledge that these kinds of issues should not be resolved through a physical response." Hilton's lawyers said they were unhappy with the choice of words in the apology, but it was ultimately accepted."Although accepting the fact that he shouldn't resort to violence, he attempted to say that there was a precipitating cause," the celebrity blogger's lawyer Brian Greenspan, said. "A sincere apology is a sincere apology."

Black Eyed Peas ‘phunked’ with award blunder

“I gotta feeling, that tonight’s gonna be a good night...”
Well, not every night.

This the Black Eyed Peas learned when they were hurled in an award mix-up at the NRJ Awards in Cannes, France, last Jan. 23.

During the awards, the American pop group was mistakenly announced as the “Best International Group/Duo.” It turned out that the award belongs to German pop rock band Tokio Hotel.

Thankfully nobody from the band was at the ceremonies.
Choreographer Kamel Ouali and “TikTok” singer Ke$ha took to the stage to present the award but were pale-faced when no one picked it up.

Moments later, Kamel went back with Nikos Aliagas, the show’s host, to explain the apparent mistake.

According to Kamel he got confused with the card, which contained the names of both the nominees and the winner. Excited as he was, he called the first name he saw on the card.
Fans weren't satisfied with the explanation and soon, boos echoed inside the Palais des Festivals. Nikos defended the presenter, saying, “It happens!”
Kamel apologized to the audience, but blamed the organizers, reasoning that it could’ve been much simpler and less confusing if they simply put the name of the winner so as not to baffle the presenters.

Tokio Hotel bested other contenders such as U2, Green Day, Jay-Z and Alicia Keys, and of course, the BEP for the award.

The Peas did receive an award for “I Gotta Feeling,” which was adjudged “Best International Song.”

This was not the first time a blunder happened at the NRJ Awards: Last year, in the same category, Katy Perry’s “I Kissed A Girl,” was mistakenly declared the winner over the real victor, Rihanna’s “Disturbia.”

Winners of the award show were determined through votes by listeners of NRJ radio and TF1 TV.
